Job Description
The department of International Hospitality and Service Innovation at the Saunders College of Business at the Rochester Institute of Technology invites applications for the Assistant / Associate Professor of Hospitality Management. The candidate will be teaching and conducting research and service in the following areas of hospitality: real estate development, asset management, revenue management, financing of hospitality investments, franchising, and related fields. We're seeking an individual who has the ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses and establish a strong research agenda in their area of specialty. Additionally, the Assistant/ Associate Professor should have the ability to actively engage with the hospitality investment community, alumni, and relevant professional organizations. Applicants should have the skills to actively engage and mentor students and work collaboratively with faculty across the department, college, and university.

The candidate should have a specific interest on hospitality real estate development (i.e. investment, development, and monitoring of hotels, restaurants, event venues, tourist theme parks, and attractions, etc). Preferred qualifications include industry experience in one or more of the following areas: commercial real estate (focused on the hospitality industry), private equity, asset management, revenue management, wealth management, investment banking, development of hospitality properties (at a corporate level), or related area.

This position is a 9-month tenure-track appointment with a start date of August 2023. Review of applications will begin on September 2022 and continue until the position is filled. The College/Department
The Saunders College of Business is served by 68 full-time faculty members who value collegiality and teamwork. The college is accredited by AACSB International and offers a bachelor’s degree in business with nine different majors including Hospitality Management. Graduate programs include an MBA, executive MBA, and several Master of Science programs including a Master’s in Hospitality Business Management (online). The college will host its first Ph.D. class in the Fall of 2023. The Saunders College of Business is ranked among the top 100 business schools in the United States by U.S. News and World Report.A successful candidate will join the department of International Hospitality and Service Innovation (IHSI). A relaunched online Master of Science program in Hospitality Business focuses on higher level skills to prepare graduates to take positions in real estate, hospitality investment analysis, asset management, franchising, development of hospitality properties, as well as senior level management positions in hospitality firms.

Required Minimum Qualifications

• A doctorate (Ph.D.) in Hospitality Management, Business, Finance, Real Estate, or related field. The Ph.D. must be granted by an AACSB-accredited or equivalent institution. ABD candidates will be considered provided they complete their dissertation by August 14, 2023.
• Evidence of effective teaching
• Published scholarly articles relevant to the area of specialty
• Ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the college’s continuing commitment to cultural diversity, pluralism, and individual differences.
• Additionally, candidates for associate professor must have a proven record of scholarly research, evidence of teaching excellence and strong service experience.
• Required Minimum Education Level: PhD
