JHTR Special Issue on The Emergence of New Work Paradigms: Shaping the Hospitality and Tourism Industry and Its Workforce

Journal of Hospitality & Tourism Research has a new Call for Papers for a special issue themed, The Emergence of New Work Paradigms: Shaping the Hospitality and Tourism Industry and Its Workforce.

The focus of this special issue is to explore the rapid evolution of the hospitality and tourism industry from a workforce perspective. The evolving expectations among employees of various ages, together with a significant employment crisis characterized by a notable shortage of staff, complicate the industry’s path forward. This special issue aims to weave together the diverse threads of change, offering a thorough examination of the emerging new work paradigms in hospitality and tourism, viewed through the lens of the industry.

We welcome empirical and conceptual contributions that explore the nuances of the current landscape and also look forward to the future, identifying challenges, opportunities, and potential pathways for an industry in flux, all within the context of the new work paradigms unfolding in the hospitality and tourism industry. We encourage submissions that probe these themes from varied geographical and cultural standpoints, as they contribute to a rich and diverse dialogue, offering a range of perspectives and insights from around the world.
