Welcome to SECSA!
Lisa CainSECSA President

Over the past year, our SECSA federation was able to achieve record numbers of participation at the 6th annual conference, which took place virtually and recorded 256 registrants and participants. The federation also housed numerous webinars on research and education. The marketing platform of the federation achieved its highest levels of viewership and engagement to date. None of this would have been possible without the engagement and service of the board members who dedicated their time and energy to accomplish these goals during the 2020-2021 term and a global pandemic. We are grateful for their service.

Thank you to our outgoing leadership, Dr. Faizan Ali (Immediate Past President), Dr. Annamarie Sisson (Secretary), Dr. Yvette Green (Treasurer), and Dr. Lionel Thomas Jr. (Director of Research). Congratulations to Dr. Robert Thompson, who stepped up from the Director of Marketing position to the Vice President/President-Elect role. To Dr. Andrea White-McNeal, congratulations and thank you for serving a second two-year term as Director of Education, and sincerest gratitude to Dr. Marketa Kubickova (Director of Industry Service), Dr. Heather Lewis (Director of Member Services and Development) and Mr. Tim Flohr (Director of Networking) for their continued service to the federation. An additional warm welcome is extended to the newly elected board members for their service in the 2021-2022 term. Dr. Katerina Berezina (Secretary), Dr. Andrew Moreo (Treasurer), Dr. Trishna Mistry (Director of Research) and Dr. Wei Wang (Director of Marketing). The 2021-2022 term promises to be one of growth and adaptation.

Our goals for 2021-2022 are to serve our current constituents, increase the awareness, inclusion, and membership of our Central, South America and Caribbean colleagues, and boost participation in our hybrid-style, 7th annual SECSA conference, on February 25-26, 2022 in Memphis, Tennessee. Our conference areas of focus include research, pedagogy, and industry panels, numerous breakout rooms and increasing numbers of presentations, as well as featuring a think tank leading to a research marathon in a leading hospitality journal.
