Political Events: The 2020 Iowa Caucus (Olson, Kedrowski)
Political events are an under examined phenomenon in the event management literature. The Iowa Caucus, the first political event in the United States to begin nominating a presidential candidate for the Democratic Party, faced numerous event management challenges in 2020. Specifically, this case study illustrates the challenges of executing a statewide political event, while focusing on event management challenges of technology, leadership, and crisis management. The background, literature review, and challenges for this case study are presented. This case study is intended to be used in an educational setting only, and the case study is intended to be non-partisan. The case study highlights the challenges in executing a political event. Data used in this case study stems from secondary data, including publicly available news sites.

Celebrity Endorsements in Hospitality (Chauliac, Cain)
Celebrities have been used to endorse products for the better half of a century. How these endorsements may be utilized to leverage the credibility, attractiveness and power of the celebrity to enhance brand image and attract targeted customers is of importance to hospitality marketers and managers due to the content overload customers experience daily. This case study examines Hilton Garden Inn’s use of Judy Greer as a celebrity endorser. It offers models by which to assess the benefits of a celebrity endorsement, as well as pros, cons, and cultural implications. Finally, areas for future research and discussion questions are offered.

It discusses the historical background of the role that females have had in the kitchen, their current situation in the industry, and the perceived differences between men and women regarding holding a position as a chef.

Corporate Sponsorship for Nonprofits: The case of Reach High Texas not reaching in the right direction (Edwards, Intorcia, Mistry)
Reach High Texas is a nonprofit organization that sustains sponsorship primarily through individual donors and governmental subsidies. Recent trends in the economic environment have sparked a decline in the overall individual donors that contribute consistently. This decline has created not only a financial burden but fiscal concerns for Sherri Bakain, the founder of Reach High Texas, as monetary donations are directly correlated to the number of projects and events her organization can contribute to. With faulty approaches guiding the maintenance of sponsorship, the commitment that Sherri has made to her recent projects while anticipating corporate funding, now faces scrutiny while simultaneously creating uncertainty about the future of her business.
