Letter from the President

Hello everyone,

I am Shane C. Blum, and I am the new WF CHRIE Federation President. I have served on the board for the past few years as Treasurer and Vice President and I am honored to continue as your President.

Please let me briefly introduce myself:

I am originally from New Jersey and received my undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst; my MBA from San Diego State University; and Ph.D. from The University of Nevada, Las Vegas. I have been at Texas Tech University since 1998 and have served in a number of roles there.

I am truly looking forward to working with this year’s WF CHRIE leadership. Here is a list of our outstanding Executive Committee and Board of Directors.

As you can see, we have a strong Texas presence with a little hint of Colorado and California. Since we just assumed our new roles, we have not met to discuss our goals for this year, but we will in the next month. We are still working on the location for our 2026 conference and have a bid from The University of Hawaii and are looking at other options as well.

Once again, I am excited to serve as President and look forward to working with everyone during the next year.
