2023 CentralCHRIE Conference Wrap-up

On behalf of the CentralCHRIE Board of Directors, and the 2023 conference planning team, we would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to each and every individual for making the CentralCHRIE conference, in conjunction with the Spirit of Hospitality Summit at Purdue University, a success. The 2023 CentralCHRIE conference was held at Purdue University October 19-20.

This year we had more than 30 participants representing 11 universities in the CentralCHRIE federation, industry, and ICHRIE. By joining the Spirit of Hospitality Summit, CentralCHRIE participants were able to hear industry leaders speak on important hospitality topics, network, and engage with three keynote speakers. Thank you to Purdue University White Lodging-J.W. Marriott, Jr. School of Hospitality and Tourism Management for providing CentralCHRIE an opportunity to engage with the 2023 Summit.

CentralCHRIE Recap

Alongside the Summit, CentralCHRIE had six individual sessions designed to engage our membership and promote the sharing of ideas and provide opportunities for networking. A special thank you to our sponsor, STR Data Solutions, for working with CentralCHRIE on these programs. STR sponsored the networking lunch that Thursday, and two breakout sessions on Friday. Additionally, Dr. Vernetta Kosalka from University of Nebraska-Lincoln, hosted a roundtable discussion with faculty, students, and industry on engaging industry in education. The poster presentations were well attended, and included 26 peer-reviewed poster presentations, presented in a hybrid format.
