The Hospitality Management (HM) program at James Madison University is seeking applicants for a one year Visiting Assistant or Associate Professor in Hospitality Management. The position is a one-year appointment beginning in August of 2024.

The Hart School is an affiliate academic unit in the College of Business. The Hart School serves approximately 1,000 students in both Sport & Recreation Management and Hospitality Management along with a Sport & Recreation Leadership program with more than 40 students at the Master’s level. We strive to be a leader in impacting the future of global hospitality, sport and recreation. Our mission is to engage in transformational education through innovative teaching, scholarship, and service.

Duties and Responsibilities: We are seeking an innovative and collaborative faculty member to teach undergraduate courses in Hospitality Management. Teaching load is negotiable depending on research and service expectations. Applicants should have the ability to teach the following courses: Lodging, Clubs, and Resort Operations and Technology; Country Club Management; Tourism in a Global Context; and courses in other functional areas within the hospitality industry. The applicant with evidence of a clear research agenda will be preferred. The applicant should also be prepared to engage in service to the university, community, department, and profession.

Qualifications: The successful candidate should have a Ph.D. or be a late-stage doctoral student in hospitality management or a closely related field. The candidate must have a demonstrated record of outstanding classroom teaching; an ability to connect with undergraduate students; a willingness to work collaboratively with discipline-specific organizations in the region; and a desire to actively participate in students’ experiential learning opportunities. In addition, the applicant with evidence of successful publications in peer-reviewed journals will be preferred. It is preferred that the applicant have professional work experience at the managerial level within the hospitality industry or closely related industries.
