Position and Availability
The position is a nine-month, tenure track faculty position at the Assistant Professor Level specializing in Event Management in the Horst Schulze School of Hospitality Management beginning Fall 2024. The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Responsible
Teaching responsibilities will include courses on subjects related to event management, meetings and conventions, and other hospitality courses offered across all three study options for the B.S. in Hospitality Management. Bachelor's degree options currently offered include Event Management, Hotel and Restaurant Management and Culinary Science. The courses may include, but are not limited to Event Operations, Special Events, Catering and Event Management, Conference Coordination, and other event-related courses. More specifically this faculty member will be assisting the Event Management Coordinator in program delivery, new course development and industry relations. The successful applicant would also participate in the formation of department policies related to the undergraduate curriculum, engage in undergraduate academic advising and recruitment for the program. The faculty member will be reviewed annually by the Head of School based on the College and School Promotion and Tenure guidelines. The successful candidate is expected to engage in research and other scholarship and service consistent with the expectations of a tenure track faculty appointment.

Qualifications
The candidate must hold a doctoral degree from an accredited institution in hospitality management or a closely related field at the time of employment. Applicants must have a minimum of three (3) years of industry experience in the hospitality industry, preferably in the event sector and demonstrate an aptitude for teaching across a wide range of topics in hospitality and event management. The candidate should be familiar with accreditation procedures and national standards for the discipline. The candidate is expected to collaborate with Hospitality Management faculty on research, as well as to provide service and/or industry connections to the school, college, and university. The candidate must be able to communicate effectively in English. The successful candidate must meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment.

Setting
The Horst Schulze School of Hospitality Management is an academic unit within the College of Human Sciences. The school offers bachelors, masters, and doctoral degree programs in hospitality management that include campus-based programming as well as a master’s degree distance education option. The Hospitality Management Program’s undergraduate enrollment is approximately 375 students. Program faculty are intent upon increasing this number to 525 students over the next 5-7 years across all three-study options including Hotel and Restaurant Management, Event Management and Culinary Science. All programming will be delivered in the Tony and Libba Rane Culinary Science Center. This 142,000 square-foot education center houses six floors of state-of-the-art hospitality teaching classrooms and hands-on learning laboratories. The center houses several food production laboratories, a commercial food production kitchen, student training restaurant (1856 Restaurant), a bakery and coffee roasting facility, microbrewery, wine and distilled spirits education laboratories, spa, roof top garden and event space, and an ultra-luxury training hotel (The Laurel). The center features a very interactive food hall encompassing a business incubation unit as well as a podcast booth.
