Position Information:
Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Hospitality Management or closely related field with at least one graduate degree in a hospitality related field. Degree at time of application or official notification of completion of the doctoral degree by August 1, 2024.
  • Specialization in food and beverage, events and/or hotel/lodging
  • At least three years of professional work experience in the hospitality industry
  • Demonstrated potential for undergraduate and/or graduate college level teaching
  • Demonstrated potential for developing a line of research, scholarly and/or creative activities, including peer-reviewed publication and presentations
  • Demonastrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse population

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Executive chef or managerial/administrative experience in food and beverage or events
  • Expertise in culinary arts, wine and/or mixology
  • Experience in teaching and curriculum development at the college level
  • Active participation and demonstrated leadership in professional organizations and/or professional activities
  • Experience advising a diverse student population
  • Demonstrated competence in use of diverse teaching modalities (online, hybrid, experiential, lecture, labs, in class activities) to meet the needs of the diverse student population
  • Experience of successfully working with populations demographically and socioeconomically similar to the CSULB student body

Duties:

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in hospitality management [Mode of instruction may include in-person, hybrid, online, and/or any combination thereof].
  • Participate in curriculum and program development and keep content current
  • Recruit and advise undergraduate and graduate students
  • Advance interdisciplinary collaboration as part of the commercial test kitchen
  • Serve on theses/directed project committees
  • Conduct a consistent program of research, scholarly and/or creative activities leading to publications and presentations
  • Promote collaborative relationships with the hospitality industry and local community
  • Actively participate in professional organizations related to the discipline
  • Actively participate in committee responsibilities at the program, department, college and university levels,
  • Participate on the advisory board for the program, partner institutions, and/or discipline related community or professional organizations, advise student organizations
  • Assume professional leadership responsibilities
